Surviving and Thriving: Tanya Flanagan and Judge Belinda T. Harris Share Their Breast Cancer Journeys and Advocate for Awareness
Tanya Flanagan, a three-time breast cancer survivor, hosts a discussion with fellow survivor and judge Belinda T. Harris on their experiences. Belinda, diagnosed at 36 with hormone-positive breast cancer, underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation, and is currently on an oral chemo pill. Tanya, diagnosed at 32 with ductal carcinoma in situ, had a lumpectomy and skin graft. They discuss the importance of understanding breast cancer types, particularly triple-positive and triple-negative, and the need for more studies on the latter, especially in Black women. Belinda shares her journey through multiple surgeries, including a deep slap procedure, and emphasizes living life fully despite the challenges.
